Nokia Sensor

I read a post by Howard Rheingold about Nokia Sensor, a bluetooth social mobility app. But, of course (?), it only runs on Nokia phones. Dumb.

I actually posted this to the ipipi blog (http://blog.ipipi.com/blog/_archives/2005/5/9/665186.html) a couple days ago. Should have double posted I see.

I love the situational factor, but agree that it needs to be bumped outside the Nokia circle. And, perhaps, have more features that continue the circle of interaction. For example, you might not want to halt your day when you are near another Sensor user. Or may not have the time to get someone's number before you jump off the skytrain.

Good concept, but somewhat closed off from real life situations.

Hi Stowe,

We met up at La Palette after the Les Blogs conference for a drink and a chat, before going to the Alcazar.

I had reviewed the Sensor application on 10 April, before its release, here:

For those interested in knowing about the challenges and considerations in developing mobile social computing applications, there's a link to a 90 minute video given at Stanford by the Nokia Sensor project managers.
