AOL has announced a preview of its upcoming Love.com Web personals service, leveraging the company's success with instant-messaging software into the lucrative Internet dating sector.

I can't seem to register for the service as a non-AOL user.

You don't have to be an AOL member to sign up - AOL will take anyone's money! There are lots of people signed up but not as many as you would expect considering AOL customer base, maybe a few thousand. It's free now with no hint of the pricing structure to be revealed in mid January. Some seemingly nice folks listed but some females are shills for the web-cams game and others are looking to sell porn or themselves. Great way for national call girl rings to advertise. Your screen name will get lots of spam from pornographers.
As soon as the fees are announced, it will become a wasteland just like the AOL chat rooms that are now nothing more than a collection porn bots hawking their wares to anyone foolish enough to sign in. AOL just doesn't get it. In your profile they condescendingly refer to your physical attributes as "the goods". How demeaning, but not surprising from a ruthless and desperate company. Don't waste your time.

Yes AOL has degraded over the years since ive had it... now its a massive never-ending collection of porn bots in the chat rooms; it didnt used to be like that even though Yahoo was. But now aol is pathetic with never ending lame pick up lines by non-human programs...you cant even talk to anyone. I wrote aol about it and they said in reply "could you be more specific" like they dont know whats going on...the corrupt bastards.
